Who are we?
FRA ØST TIL NORD️ is an Oslo-based non-profit organization that aims to raise visibility of Asian cultures in Nordic countries and promote cultural exchanges. We curate film screenings, art exhibitions, panel discussions, and other cultural events. We believe in the benefit of curiosity, the necessity of dialogue, and the strength of compassion.️
Vi er en Oslo-basert ideell organisasjon dedikert til å formidle asiatisk kultur i Norden. Vi organiserer filmvisninger, kunstutstillinger, debatter og andre kulturarrangementer. Vi tror på viktigheten av nysgjerrighet, dialog, og medmenneskelighet.️
Co-founders
FRA ØST TIL NORD is a fast-growing NGO founded by two young female Chinese immigrants currently living in Oslo - Mingmin and Yunyun. Both are passionate about independent cinema from Asia and the Sinophone world and are embedded in transnational networks of Sinophone film distribution and screening in Europe.
Mingmin has many years of experience in various educational and cultural NGOs in China and is currently working as a senior project manager at NordicExpress;
Yunyun is an academic working on Chinese feminism and social movements at the University of Oslo.

Chinese Independent Cinema Observer is a bi-lingual peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the study of Chinese independent films and film culture. It publishes twice a year on the official website of Chinese Independent Film Archive (CIFA).
CILENS Indie Chinese Cinema Project based at Transtopia, Berlin.
C/LENS is a Berlin-based, non-profit film curation project that explores the potential of cinema as a space for transcultural dialogues, through the showcase of rarely exhibited Chinese independent films.
HerSpace is a diverse and inclusive community where self-identifying women (henceforth, “women”) can work, belong and thrive. Our coworking membership is exclusive to women, women-led companies and mothers. Our community membership is open to all genders.
